Early Education at Little Beginnings
Little Beginnings is more than just childcare; it is a dedicated Learning Centre with a strong focus on early education. Our qualified educators implement our 40-week Little Beginnings Curriculum, meticulously crafted around the Four Frames of learning from Ontario’s “How Does Learning Happen?” pedagogy, the "Elect" document, and the "Heggerty Program."
Our curriculum is comprehensive, tailored to each stage of early development, and designed to evolve naturally as children grow. With our structured, targeted, and explicit teaching style—proven by research as the most effective method for teaching and learning—you will see your child rapidly acquire knowledge and skills.

The LB Early Literacy Curriculum
Our educational journey begins in the Infant Room with Baby Sign Language, establishing a foundation for effective communication. As a proud Heggerty Learning Centre, we implement the renowned Heggerty Curriculum in our Toddler and Preschool programs. This curriculum, recognized worldwide, focuses on developing essential phonemic awareness skills that are crucial for pre-readers and early literacy development. Through engaging activities and structured learning, we nurture a love for reading and language that supports children's academic growth and lifelong learning.
The LB Early Numeracy Curriculum
Our Early Numeracy Curriculum introduces foundational mathematical concepts and skills, engaging learners as young as 6 months. Through hands-on activities and playful exploration, children develop essential skills such as counting, pattern recognition, spatial awareness, and basic arithmetic. We use a variety of interactive and age-appropriate methods to make learning math fun and engaging. By fostering a strong numerical foundation, we support children's future academic success and instill a lifelong appreciation for mathematics, preparing them for more advanced concepts as they grow.
Provocations for Learning
Our educators use thoughtfully designed provocations to spark engagement and purposeful play. By curating the environment and presenting materials in inviting ways, we inspire curiosity and exploration. These provocations, aligned with our curriculum, stimulate thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The environment acts as the 'third teacher,' influencing how children interact and learn. Through purposeful play, we foster a love for learning that is meaningful and enduring.
Foundations in STEAM
We value STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) engagement in early education. This year, our centre proudly received The NWMO grant, sponsoring our vibrant Science Program. With a range of educational materials like Bee Bots for coding, Lincoln Logs, Wooden Blocks for construction, and Sensory Exploration Tools, our STEAM programming nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in even our youngest learners through hands-on activities. This prepares children for academic success and fosters a lifelong passion for discovery and innovation.
Social-Emotional Literacy
At Little Beginnings Learning Centre, we prioritize social-emotional literacy in early childhood education. Through age-appropriate activities and interactions, we guide our youngest learners in understanding emotions, developing empathy, and building positive relationships.
