We understand the importance of providing our parents with easy access to essential information about our programs and policies. To accommodate your preferences, we offer two versions of our Parent Handbook.

What To Bring
What Items Should I Bring for My Child?
- At Little Beginnings, we believe in ensuring every child is comfortable and well-prepared for their day. While we provide most daily necessities, we require parents to bring certain personal items for their children.
Below is a list of essential items to ensure your child has everything they need:
Diapers: Please provide enough diapers for your child's daily use.
Wipes: A supply of wipes to accompany diaper changes.
Diaper Cream: Any specific diaper cream your child may need.
Indoor and Outdoor Shoes: A pair of indoor shoes and a pair of outdoor shoes suitable for all weather conditions.
Backpack: Please bring a backpack or bag to carry the following items and keep them stored in your child's cubby. These items help us provide the best care and ensure your child feels safe and comfortable throughout the day.
Sunscreen: Sunscreen labeled with your child's name for outdoor play.
Spare Clothes: At least one complete set of spare clothes, including underwear and socks.
Comfort Items: Any comfort items such as a stuffed animal or blanket/sleep sack for nap time.
Hats: Both a sun hat for warm weather and a warm hat for cooler weather.
Proper Attire for All Weather: Ensure your child has clothing appropriate for the weather, including a jacket, mittens, snow pants, or rain gear as needed.
Additionally, depending on age, you may wish to provide:
Formula: For infants who require it.
Pablum: For infants starting on solid foods.
Purees: For young children who are still eating blended foods.

What are the age groups that Little Beginnings caters to?
- Little Beginnings provides full-time care for infants (6 months to 18 months), toddlers (18 months to 30 months), and preschoolers (2.5 years to 5 years).
What is the process for enrolling my child?
- Please watch the following video, "Childcare Enrollment". When you are ready to enroll your child, please complete the online application form on our website. Once submitted, we will contact you to schedule a tour and discuss the next steps.
What are your hours of operation?
- We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
What curriculum does Little Beginnings follow?
- Our 40-week curriculum is based on the Four Frames of learning from Ontario’s “How Does Learning Happen?” pedagogy, the "Elect" document, and the "Heggerty Program," focusing on early literacy, numeracy, and holistic development.
Are meals and snacks provided?
- Yes, we provide balanced, nutritious meals and snacks prepared by our Chef Lisa, focusing on healthy growth and development using locally sourced produce.
How do you communicate with parents about their child's day?
- We use the Brightwheel app to provide real-time updates on your child’s activities, meals, nap times, and more. Parents can also access images, documents, and messages through the app.
What is the teacher-to-child ratio in each classroom?
- Our ratios comply with Ontario regulations: Infants 1:3, Toddlers 1:5, and Preschoolers 1:8. Please visit our Educator page to meet the team. More details are provided in our Parent Handbook
What qualifications do your educators have?
- Each classroom is led by a Qualified Early Childhood Educator, and our team consists of highly trained and dedicated professionals committed to continuous improvement in care and education.
How do you handle allergies and dietary restrictions?
- We accommodate all allergies and dietary restrictions. Please inform us during enrollment so that we can ensure your child’s needs are met. Specific details are outlined in our Parent Handbook.
What is your policy on illness and vaccinations?
- We require up-to-date immunization records upon enrollment. If your child is ill, please keep them at home to prevent the spread of illness. Specific guidelines are detailed in our Parent Handbook.
